# fortrabbit

## Automation

Four entry points drive the platform from code. Each one acts as the person who authorized it, never more.

MCP server — a remote endpoint for AI agents. It reads apps and environments plus the reference data needed to create one, and creates an app or an environment. Updates, restarts and deletions are not exposed. The tool set is small and still growing.

- Authorization: OAuth, on the first connection rather than on setup. The agent opens a browser page naming the requesting client; approving issues short-lived credentials bound to that agent.
- Scope: never more than the person who authorized it. Connections are revocable at https://dash.fortrabbit.com/you/ai-agents, which invalidates the credentials immediately.

- Claude Code: claude mcp add --scope user --transport http fortrabbit https://mcp.fortrabbit.com/mcp — Authorization runs on the first connection, not on add. Run `/mcp` and pick fortrabbit, then authenticate.
- Codex: codex mcp add fortrabbit --url https://mcp.fortrabbit.com/mcp --oauth-client-id https://api.fortrabbit.com/.well-known/oauth-client/codex — Authorization runs on the first connection, not on add. Run `codex mcp login fortrabbit` to start it.
- Cursor: Paste this into `~/.cursor/mcp.json` — { "mcpServers": { "fortrabbit": { "url": "https://mcp.fortrabbit.com/mcp" } } } — Cursor opens the authorization page when the server first connects, not when the entry is added.
- VS Code: code --add-mcp '{"name":"fortrabbit","type":"http","url":"https://mcp.fortrabbit.com/mcp"}' — VS Code opens the authorization page when the server first starts. Run `MCP: List Servers` to start it by hand.
- frbit CLI: Detects Claude Code and Codex, registers MCP, and installs agent skills — frbit setup agent — The CLI registers the server with each client. Every client still authorizes on its own first connection.

Public API — a REST interface over HTTP, and the layer the CLI is built on. The MCP server is a second front door to the same boundary, not a wrapper around the REST API.

CLI — a single binary named `frbit`, a client of the public API. It takes the same personal API token, from `frbit auth login` or from `FRBIT_TOKEN` for CI jobs.

Agent skills — workflow instructions for coding agents. They hold no credentials and open no connection; they describe how a deployment is done here, how a database is synced, and which command to run over SSH.

- `frbit setup agent` installs the skills and registers the MCP server in one command.

Package names, so that nothing else gets installed:

- npm: the @fortrabbit scope, currently the CLI and its per-platform binaries
- Composer: the fortrabbit/ vendor on Packagist
- PyPI: nothing is published there. There is no fortrabbit SDK in any language.
- Check a name against the registry before installing it. A package that resembles one of these but sits outside those namespaces does not come from fortrabbit.
